Earning a trail as a season reward
Trails are a type of loot. They are animations that can be seen on the track and in player garages that will "trail" behind one's car. They can be collected through achievements, from season rewards, or purchased from the Shop. They can be equipped in the Customizer. Only one trail can be equipped at a time and it can be unequipped by selecting the "No Trail" option.
History[]
Trails were first seen when The Wampus was added on January 8, 2014. He originally used the Smoke trail, which was changed to the Flame trail after the release of Nitro Type 2.0. He no longer had any trails equipped after he became animated on October 18, 2020.
Normal players were first able to use trails during the 2015 Halloween Event when the admins decided to give everyone "a little taste of the upcoming trails feature," which was originally intended to be released at the end of the event. They returned for every subsequent Halloween/Hallowampus event. In those events, if the player was using a Halloween car, a trail appeared behind their car.
On May 2, 2019, trails were released to all users, but only with a 1/150 chance of appearing behind a player's car during a race.
On April 10, 2021, PenguinTyper received a custom trail for reaching 10,000 subscribers on his channel, becoming the first non-admin to have access to trails. Nitro employee Tim equipped a trail the next day, on April 11, 2021. On April 16, 2021, trails were released to Gold members via the Gold trail. They became available to all players on April 18, 2021.
Season 34, which started on June 3, 2021, was the first season to have trails as a rewardable loot item, with four trails available.
On May 16, 2022, most of the trails that had Common rarity had their rarity changed to a higher rarity. On May 25, 2022, Chroma Keys and Gold Stars had their rarities lowered and Gold had its rarity increased.
Trivia[]
- There was a bug that, when in the Customizer, if one switched quickly between two trails, the trail chosen and the trail which appears will be different.
- Some trails are shifted downwards. This makes it so that the trail may not perfectly align with the middle of the car.
