November 12: The ability to sell nitros and edit comments on the Blog (now referred to as the news) are added. The "Paint Car" button also gets moved to the Dealership, rather than the Garage. These changes were announced in a news post.
December 2: Vielle becomes the founder of Nitro Type's very first clan, NTM. This would eventually lead to more and more clans being created, and teams to get implemented.
December 17: The Friends list gets added and announced. Friend races now have a canned chat, rather than the free chat that private races used to have.

Attempting to purchase cash with bitcoin in 2018

Nitro Type begins accepting bitcoins for gold purchases, as announced in a news post.
However, sometime in 2017, the option to buy anything with bitcoin was removed, although the tab for it remained. From 2017 to 2019, if someone tried to purchase gold or cash with bitcoin, it would throw an error that says "The type 'bitcoin' is not a valid source type." At the release of Nitro Type v3, the option to use bitcoins to purchase gold or cash was removed.
December 16:
Like the previous events, it is changed so that people could get 50% more cash and experience by racing during the event, and like the last Xmaxx event, an event car would not have to be used to receive the bonus.
The ability to buy gold for other people is added.
Two extra Gold Membership options are added. $14.99 and $19.99 has the same benefits as the original $9.99 gold, but they give more cash.
December 22: Nightmare becomes the first person to complete a 1,200 race session (1,247) and breaks the record for highest session races (Beating Vielle's 1,005 race session record the previous year) and is awarded the Typing Nightmare title.
December 24: In hopes to keep the record for highest amount of session races, Vielle completes a 1,501 race session, however gets no reward for it.

November 16: Travis creates a news post challenging racers to race as much as they can on November 20th to try and get a site total of 1 million races in a day, offering rewards.
November 23: As a reward for helping the site reach 1 million total races in a day, TheCorndog rewards the 36,124 players who did at least 10 races on that day and were at least level 20 with $1,000,000. The people who did the highest amount of races on November 20 were also rewarded with the title Six Zero Racer, and for completing the highest amount of races, Turtle_Drawn receives the title I Like Turtles.

This was considered "cheating" by the admins. After emailing Corndog, he confirmed that he was locked out until Season 1 ended.

Season 1 ends. Nitro Type removes Nightmare's 2.5 million points due to his use of the guest racer technique. This causes the season win to go to Smithy instead and SECT to lose the season to DOG, despite leading for the entire season.
In addition, iloveshoes2 becomes the first player to reach 150,000 races.
March 2017
March 3: The season titles for Season 1 are distributed. In subsequent seasons, the distribution of titles would happen immediately after the season ended. Season 2 is announced to start on March 6, and the third set of Olympics titles is rewarded. This particular set of Olympics titles would be the last to be rewarded for the next 3 years.
March 31: Season 2 ends, beginning NTA's 8-season win streak.

May 24: VFC gets forcefully disbanded by TheRedBaron (TheCorndog had him disband the team) due to it being named "Vielle Fan Club" with "vielle" being considered an "offensive" term by NT.
June 24: Rrraptor ties Sean Wrona's high speed of 212 WPM, and, by extension, ties the record for the highest speed obtained on the site without cheating.

August 17: Multiple NTA members switch to SSH.
August 19-22: TheRedBaron is fired due to what Travis implied to be laziness.
Corndog replying to an email from a player explaining why there were so many false flags.
August 22-24: Multiple different users get either falsely flagged or banned for "Cheating". This was due to Jackie Markot, the fill-in support specialist for TheRedBaron, accidentally pressing a button on the cheater reports list.
Travis patches the guest racing method that had been used by many racers on team KTTY. He begins to work on a feature as compensation for competitive players whose typing speed is above 100 WPM.
In higher WPM zones, the load time for bots is decreased significantly.
A glitch occurs in which the number of people using the site was so high, some of Nitro Type's backup servers reverted to older versions, causing the summer event theme to show up instead of the Xmaxx event. [12]

Unknown date in December 2018: For a short time, there is an update in which the track shakes whenever a player makes an error while typing. This is quickly reverted, and changed so that the track would only shake whenever a nitro was used.
March 8: Nitro Type v3 Alpha is released for Gold Members.
March 9: The account of Andy5692, a former moderator, is used to generate billions of illegitimate cash via an API exploit. The cash was subsequently sent to players.

November 14: The feature where one would be able to see racers close to them on the leaderboards even if they were not in the top 100 is removed. Additionally, the notification telling one's exact ranking as well as how many points they have is placed back on the top of the leaderboard even after being removed with the release of v3.

On the team page, the team tag doesn't appear next to the team members' names; although, this was re-added the following day. Team join dates were also removed.
Team tags were made smaller on player profiles.
The requirements for creating a team were changed from having to pay $5,000,000 to $50,000 and having to be at Level 20 to Level 5.
Open Enrollment (allows anyone that meets a team's requirements to join without officer approval) and Invite Only Enrollment (racers can only join if they're personally invited) options were added.
Kicked members can't reapply for 2 weeks without an invite.
If enabled, a "Class" tab which features a team-esque page is added for teacher accounts and students in their class.
The previous level requirement for sending cash is removed.
November 28: Season 24 ends.
November 29: A new option when creating/editing a team is added that, if enabled, will automatically remove non-officers that have been inactive for 7, 14, 30, 60, or 90 days.

Races are shortened from 40 seconds to 25 seconds.
The amount of nitros that are allowed to be used per race is decreased to one, rather than the former 3. People no longer have a fixed supply of nitros and instead have unlimited nitros.
December 2019
December 2: The Xmaxx event's achievements are shortly obtainable for about 10 minutes before being made unobtainable again. In a twitter post, Nitro Type postpones the event to the following day. However, during the time the cars and achievements were available, their descriptions stated that they were supposed to be part of Season 25, and not a 2019 Xmaxx Event.
February 20: iloveshoes2, previously moderator for the news comments before they were removed, is compromised, with all her cars sold and the cash stolen.
Gold members are now only able to change their display names once every 8 hours, unlike before, when they were able to change it at any time with no cooldown.
Main track stickers are added, giving everyone the ability to use stickers outside of friend races before the race begins.
Achievements receive another redesign. This update removed achievement points visually; however, they can still be earned. Even so, the Under Achiever and Under Over Achiever achievements are disabled, making the Winson Gator unobtainable until it was released in the Shop.
The ability to view points for the top 100 teams on the 24-hour leaderboard is removed and an "All Time" stats section is added to team pages, showing the total race count and overall accuracy and words per minute average.
The ability to see a player's graph of their most recent races in their profile is removed.
The ability to see speed and accuracy in both the "last days" and "by month" section of a player's race logs is removed.

May 1: The Nitro Type Olympics Discord server is made open to the public, as well as registration to participate.

The "Biggest Spender", "Longest Session", and "Most Money" categories of the Hall of Fame are removed.
A minimum account age (14 days) is added in order to send cash to other players. However, accounts can be of any age to receive cash.
The ability to use nitros is removed from racers in the 1-9 and 10-15 WPM zones.
May 11: The "Oldest Active Player" category of the Hall of Fame is removed because it was both broken and many "stolen" accounts made their way onto the Hall of Fame. Travis said, "The whole thing got pretty pointless, so we're happy to be rid of it."
May 12: The Hall of Fame gets a slight change where the "Most Active" shows the top 10 and the "Fastest Racers (500+ Races)" shows the top 5.
May 15: TypeOnederful (along with her alt) gets rewarded TypEd1tor for her help in editing and correcting Nitro Type's typing passages.

A Season page is created to introduce the Nitro Pass, which included three bonus tiers that weren't included with the original Season 27 achievements. These three tiers rewarded the 9 Bit Racer, the "Nitro Pioneer" title, and $250,000 to gold members.
Every season achievement is removed and replaced by the Nitro Pass.
May 28: The price of The Wild 500 increases from $10,000 to $50,000,000. [18]
June 2020
June 1: The 2020 Nitro Type Olympics begin.
June 4: The Olympics are postponed to early July (to coincide with Season 28) due to technical issues. Also, registration to participate in the Nitro Type Olympics is reopened.
Levels are removed and replaced with seasonal levels, which reset every season. Along with this, the minimum level requirement for teams is changed to a minimum races completed requirement, level requirements are removed from the Dealership, and XP is removed from the mystery box.
The Wampus' spawn rates are increased to match with the Season 28 Wampus World theme.
An exclusive Wampus World site theme is added to the background of the site.
The XP bar that appears on one's race results is updated to have a more flashy and fiery design.
A minimum of 50 completed races is added to the requirements to create a team.
Display names are no longer required to be unique, and spaces are now allowed.
The search feature on the Friends page is removed.
The 2020 Los Angeles Summer Nitro Type Olympics begin.
July 21: Kocho, who was first place on the season leaderboard at the time, is banned for a short time. It was later clarified that the ban was accidental. [19]
July 30: Hysteria, who was competing for first place in Season 28 with Kocho, loses access to his account. It was later found that Kocho collaborated with Mal in order to hijack his account and ultimately get him banned. In the following days, Kocho and Mal were both disqualified from the Nitro Type Olympics, with many calling for their accounts to be banned entirely (though this did not occur). [20][21][22]
Several minor visual updates are made to the login, sign up, and race pages.
August 14: The fourth set of Nitro Type Olympics titles are distributed.
August 21: The Nitro Gold upgrade page is given a massive visual overhaul. Additionally, all Gold tiers aside from the $2,000,000, $25,000,000, and $100,000,000 tiers are removed.
August 23: Rrraptor completes a 242 WPM race, breaking the record for highest speed ever legitimately set on the site.
August 25: A new, more animated track is released on the test site for Gold members to test.

September 3: The test site is re-opened after several issues get resolved, as announced in a news post.

Unknown date in October 2020: The navbar is removed from the top when in a race. However, it can still be viewed and accessed from any other page.

The password must be 6+ characters, and must contain at least one number, symbol, or capital letter.

Leaderboards get replaced with Top Teams (in the last 7 days). Top Teams also show up in the teams search page. If teams have completed at least 150 races in the last 7 days, they will also see their position and their nearby teams on their teams page.
Realtime notifications are received in the bottom right corner when friends, classmates, and teammates come online, with the ability to mute notifications if desired as well.
January 11: A "Top Speeds" category is added to the Stats page, showing every top speed a player has obtained since August 8, 2017.
A tab showing where your team ranks on the "Top Teams" leaderboard on the team page is removed.
The #NitroFurze banner that appeared on the main track is removed.
January 14: Nitro Type releases a 2021 New Year's news post.
January 16:
The "Top 3" race and profile badge is upgraded to include more ranks: Top 3, Top 10, Top 50, Top 100, and Top 300 for racers, and Top 3 through 50 for teams. Ranking is based on season points earned over the last 7 days.
The ability to update a team's Message of the Day (MotD) is removed and put back up again a few hours afterwards.
January 19: The ability to "boost" (add a reaction to) one's latest team Message of the Day (MotD) is added.
New users get all 3 starter cars instead of choosing one. Once the user finishes the qualifying race, they receive the Flux Cooper, Hydrova Rubicorn, and the Velocité Lion.
Cash sending limits for team captains and officers is increased to $50,000,000.
The admins begin to give specific people (such as content creators) the ability to override the cash sending limit and send a maximum of $4,000,000,000 per week.
February 20: Season 31's end date is extended from February 21 to February 23, 2021.
February 22: The price for painting is removed, making all paint jobs free.
March 9: joshuu obtains a new high speed of 248 WPM, breaking his previous record of 247 WPM. [24]
March 10: The ability to send cash was added back and is now shown for all players, but cannot be used by non-gold members. Hovering on "Send Cash" button on a non-gold account will tell you that you must be a Gold Member to send cash.
March 27: Previously defunct Cash Store options are re-released, along with that the Trash Can of Cash, Truck of Cash, and Huge Ball of Cash are increased in price, and amount of Nitro Cash given.
April 2021
April 1: The season information box in the Garage is removed, and is replaced by a season information box in the upper left corner.
April 10: TheCorndog receives a lightning trail in preparation for the release of Trails game-wide.
April 16: Trails are fully released in-game, in forms of Shock, Lovely, Puff, Dust, and Bits. Three other trails (Please Like, Gold, and Fire) are released.
April 29: Dealerships are added to the Shop.
April 30: Seaside Rally is introduced as a new Track.
May 2021
May 3: Over 100 cars are renamed as a way to utilize existing branding and keep it consistent across all cars.
June 2021
June 3: Season 34 is released with 6 new cars and 3 new trails.

The Nitro Type homepage gets updated.
The ability to race as a guest racer is removed.
Instead of a "Sign Up" button, a "Get Started" button is added, which takes one directly to their qualifying race. After the qualifying race is completed, the option to sign up is presented.

January 11: Season 37's end date is pushed back 14 days to January 30th. [29]
January 30: Season 37 ends and Season 38 is announced and begins with the release of five cars and four trails.

February 2: It is announced that Nitro Type stock cars would be scrapped and never be released. [30]

March 10: The Nitro Type Daily items (Daily and Featured Shop) logo receives a redesign.
March 13: For the first time since the release of the Shop, 3 items are released in daily items.
March 18: XxRed_DevilxX becomes the first person to earn the "Verified TikToker" title, which used to be the first title to be classified as "Common" in rarity.
March 22: Season 38's end date is pushed back more than a month to May 1.
March 29: In the race results page, "Gold Member Bonus" bonus is changed to display "20% Gold Member Bonus."

April 2: In the Stats page, the Race Records, Race Summary, and Race Logs headings were changed to Overview, Summary, and Details respectively.
April 14: The Sticker Stan dealership is released in the Shop, becoming the first Dealership to be released in the Shop that did not contain cars.

May 1: Season 38 ends and Season 39 beings with the release of 20 tiers, including three new cars and three new trails.
Casual Mode is added to the game alongside a news post, with support for additional modes implemented in Friends races.
An additional animation that covers the dash, similar to the one during the start of a race, is added to the end of a race.
NoThisIsJohn is given the Verified YouTuber and Please Subscribe title, as well as the Please Like trail, making him the 2nd person to ever own the trail.
August 10-11: Someone hacks Nitro Type causing players to get notifications that people accepted friend requests they didn't send, joined teams they didn't, or got lots of cash they didn't. This has since been fixed. It is suspected that this person was Faded.
August 11: Players top team tags show on their team page, but only under the "Team Overview" section.
August 14: Season 41 launches with 5 cars and 3 trails.
August 28: A timer countdown of 5 seconds is added to the end of every race automatically taking you to the next race.
August 31: The timer countdown is changed from 5 seconds to 10 seconds.
September 2022
September 1: The ability to log in via Classlink is added.
October 29: Team member and applications details are changed. Applications now include applicants' longest sessions and top speeds. Team Roster sections now include the time elapsed since joining the team for each member.

200 new race texts about a variety of topics replace 200 old texts.
Adrian Crook introduces a new custom title, "Sp3llchekcer", which is given to players who find meaningful typos in any Nitro Type race text, old or new.
Certain link displays are changed. An example is "Season" being changed to "Season Rewards"
January 27: Rock, Paper, Scissors stickers are added to the Sticker Stan dealership, a suggestion originally made by Pandora.
February 2023
February 15: The base price of Gold Membership is halved from $19.99 per year to $9.99 per year without an announcement, which in turn reverts the price increase in January.

April 15: The biggest Nitro Type Discord, known as eRacers, is deleted and then rebuilt following a coordinated and planned attack on Odai's Discord account.

May 7: Season 47 - Summer Safari launches with 5 new cars and 3 new trails, as well as being the first season to introduce Name Tags.
May 13: Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) was added for players to better secure their accounts.
Nitro rarities were glitched, causing no items to be legendary or common. It was fixed by the end of the day.
June 2023
June 5: Added popup to celebrate completion of Daily Challenges.
May 27: Leagues are officially released to the public.
June 2024
June 8: "404 Not Found" wins a Community Title Tournament Event hosted by Mirciy and Adrian. It is given to Beiyudup for suggesting the title.

August 19: The advertisements on the edge of the Nitro Speedway track were updated from businesses with Nitro admin’s names to the branding of the different shops.
August 20: Wildflower becomes the first player to complete 1,000,000 races on a single account.
