Season 40, named "Sunshine GP", began on July 4, 2022 and ended on August 14, 2022. It featured 5 cars, 5 titles, 8 cash prizes, 4 stickers and 3 trails.

It’s now officially July, and that means we’re in peak summertime territory! You’ve just spent all the quarters in your pockets playing at the Nitro Arcade, so what to do now…? Kick back and hit the beach, of course!
The beach is hands-down the best place to be during those sunny summer days. There’s so much to do! Maybe you’re the type of person who likes to chill out with a cool drink in hand, and get a sweeeet suntan. Or maybe you’ll grab your pail and shovel and make some epic sand castles! Or maybe play some beach volleyball with the Wampus! Or maybe even pull off some crazy tricks on your surfboard! Hang Ten! Eleven! Fifteen!?
Or maybe, just maybe…you’re the kind of racer who’s pulled right up to the starting line, revving your engine to the max, typing fingers at the ready, raring to get through our newest Nitro season!

- 7/2/22: The cars and loot for the season are leaked.
- 7/3/22: A glitch, due to the admins not resetting the race count from the previous season, causes players to earn every single reward for the season for several minutes. After the glitch is fixed, the season is postponed until the next day.
- 7/4/22: The season starts.
- 8/14/22: The season ends.

Trivia[]
- Players who got all of the season rewards at the start of the season due to the glitch were able to keep the items they got. However, they would show up as completed, meaning that they could not re-earn the rewards.
- The Hang Fifteen makes an appearance on the news post announcing the season despite the fact that it didn't during this season.
- The checkered flag and racing theme was used once again for Nitro Racing League a few months later.
