Leaderboard

The leaderboards (formerly called "Rankings" and "Scoreboard") were a feature of Nitro Type that were removed completely on January 28, 2024 and replaced with Leagues.

Leaderboard sections[]

Pre-season sections[]

Below is a list of all of the leaderboard sections that were added prior to the introduction of seasons on September 22, 2016. Unless otherwise stated, these sections were removed on September 22, 2016, once seasons were first released.

  • Most Active Racers" was a section that was used to view the 100 racers with the highest amount of races done in the past 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, and all time.
  • "Fastest Racers" was a section that was used to view the 100 racers with the highest average 24 hour, 7 day, 30 day, and all time speeds.
  • "Most Active Teams" was a section that was used to view the 100 teams with the highest amount of races done in the past 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, and all time.
  • "Fastest Teams" was a section that was used to view the 100 teams with the highest average 24 hour, 7 day, 30 day, and all time speeds. When this section was removed on September 22, 2016, it was a huge upset to "speed teams" such as DOTA.
  • "Biggest Winners" was a section that was used to view the 100 racers with the highest amount of wins in the last 60 minutes, 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, and all time. This section was removed in October 2012 because it was nearly identical to the "Most Active Racers" section.
  • "Site Stats" was a section that was used to view stats of the site, such as the total number of nitros bought or races completed. This section was removed with the release of Nitro Type 2.0.

Post-season sections[]

Below is a list of all of the leaderboard sections that were around after the introduction of seasons on September 22, 2016. Unless otherwise stated, these sections were introduced on September 22, 2016, once seasons were first released.

  • "Top Teams" was a section that was used to view the top 100 teams with the most points earned in the past 7 days. Before February 14, 2020, it was possible to sort by "Last 30 Days". Before January 10, 2021, it was also possible to sort teams by "Season" and "Last 24 Hours". All ranking was based on speed and activity. This section was removed on January 28, 2024.
  • "Top Racers" was a section that could be used to view the top 100 racers with the most points. They could be sorted by Season and Last 24 Hours. Prior to the release of Nitro Type v3, the top 3 racers on the 7 day leaderboard would be displayed on Nitro Type's home page. Before February 14, 2020, they could also be sorted by Last 30 Days and Last 7 Days. This section was removed on January 10, 2021.
  • After the "Fastest Racers" section was removed on September 22, 2016, it was later added back due to complaints. However, this time, only the "7 Day" and "30 Day" columns could be seen. But there was a glitch where one could access the Fastest Racers in the last 24 hours by simply going to the "Top Racers" section, clicking "24 hours", and then clicking the "Fastest Racers" tab. On March 7, 2018, this section was removed again due to botters. Travis once stated that the speed leaderboard would be gone until "people grow up and stop using bots". In early 2019, it was discovered that this section could still be accessed using inspect element. This was patched with the release of Nitro Type v3.
  • "Hall of Fame" was a section that was added to make up for the loss of the All-Time Scoreboards. The categories in the Hall of Fame included Most Active, Fastest Racer with 500+ Races, Longest Session, Most Money, Biggest Spender, and Oldest Active Player. This section was removed on January 10, 2021.

Badges[]

Badges were given to players that were in one of the top 50 teams or one of the top 300 racers in Nitro Type or Nitro Math. These used the same methodology as the former "Top Teams" and "Top Racers" sections, with data from the last 7 days. These badges were visible on players' profiles and on name tags. Badges were deactivated on January 28, 2024, the same day the leaderboards were removed.

Player-created leaderboards[]

Main article: Player-created leaderboards

Player-created leaderboards are leaderboards created by members of the Nitro community. They use the existing Nitro Type API functionality to collect, monitor, and store data in a manner nearly identical to the official leaderboards. Since the removal of the official leaderboards, these leaderboards are the only way to get information regarding daily, weekly, monthly, or all-time standings of players.
