The 2016 Xmaxx Event was the fifth annual Xmaxx Event. It was first announced on November 16, 2016, started on December 1, 2016, and ended on January 1, 2017.

Event Starts Thursday!
For those of you who've never participated in a Nitro Type event, you're in for some holly jolly fun! The short version is, starting thursday there'll be a whole bunch of new holiday achievements that can only be earned by racing with any Xmaxx Event car!
How do you get an Xmaxx Event Car?
First timers can head to the dealership thursday and pick one up for $10,000, while those who've joined previous Xmaxx events can also use their older achieved cars! Race with your Xmaxx car to earn exciting new cars (trains?), titles, rewards, etc.
50% Extra Cash and XP
Oh but the festivities don't end there! Race with any Xmaxx Event Car and you'll get 50% extra cash and XP from every race! Simple as that!
Update on Scoreboard Seasons
Season 1 will start January 10th. Why not now? As much as you are all part of our Nitro Type family, we don't want to pull you away from your real life friends and family this holiday season. On the plus side, there's already going to be plenty of fun new toys to achieve in the Xmaxx event!
Festive racing!
History[]
- 11/16/16: Travis announces that in the next week they will be leaking an event car.
- 11/27/16: Travis announces that they will leaking an actual Xmaxx car that will be for use during the Xmaxx event.
- 11/28/16: As the designer of the car has not finished, Travis announces that it will be delayed for one more day.
- 11/29/16: The car, namely the Xmaxx Xxpress, was leaked. However, the actual Xmaxx event will not start until Dec. 1-7 am Pacific time. [1]
- 12/1/16: The XMaxx Xxpress XXL is released along with the Xmaxx event. Five old cars came back for the event as well. [2]
- 12/9/16: The Gilded Xxpress is released, only available to Gold members. [3]
- 12/13/16: The Corsa XMaxx LT is released, after being delayed for one day. [4]
- 12/15/16: The last event car, the Corsa Xmaxx LT-C, is released. [5]
- 1/1/17: The 2016 Xmaxx Event ends.

Trivia[]
- This was the first event in which event cars were leaked by the Nitro admins before the event.
- This was the first event in which new cars were released on a specific schedule.
- According to Corndog and Travis, there were going to be no holiday cars in the dealership other than the Rocket Sleigh. This was untrue with the re-release of the Holiday Hero.
- This was the first event that featured a decorative event background. [6]
- The achievement Gnarly Powder was created for this event, but it was never released.
- Six of the cars returned from previous events alongside 5 new ones.
